Duo Romantico - A Night Of Love Songs
Atilio and Christy perform their multi-media show which includes material from Broadway, Opera, Jazz, Latin and The Great American Songbook. Their chemistry on stage creates an unforgettable musical experience.

Duo Romantico are completely unique in today's entertainment scene. They are two classically trained singers; Atilio Marinelli is a powerful, dramatic tenor and his wife, Christy is a lovely, lyrical mezzo-soprano. When their gorgeous voices intertwine, it is nothing short of magical! The show begins with a soaring video of the snow covered Andes and thrilling music. They enter the stage to a rollicking waltz "The Drinking Song" from Verdi's "La Traviata" and the couple go down into the audience to clink glasses with the patrons while singing the well-known aria.

Their show brings to life all the favorite love duets from films such as "Moulin Rouge", "Pearl Harbor" and "The Godfather" with video clips from the movies playing behind them. They take you on a journey from sunny Spain, "Granada" to a quaint Italian village, "Torna Surriento" with travelogue style video highlights and English translation playing behind them. Throughout the show, the couple's playful, passionate banter with Atilio's charming Argentine accent remind you of Ricky and Lucy. The audience gets into the swing by helping out with such Italian standards as "Volare" and "Funiculi/Funicula".

These two experienced stage performers aren't content just to stand and sing...they act out each song. Christy transforms herself, just by pulling her hair back, into a dying Evita Peron and sings the heartbreaking "Don't Cry for Me Argentina". Atilio's portrayal of the defiant prince from Puccini's Turandot, "Nessun Dorma" never fails to bring cheering audiences to their feet. With an unforgettable evening of beautiful music from "popera" to Broadway, Duo Romantico is causing a sensation wherever they perform!

There is a two item minimum required at this show.

Atilio Marinelli was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is the son of an Italian father and Spanish-Creole mother. He has an architecture degree from the University of Buenos Aires and is a former championship rugby player. Atilio has been a professional entertainer for 18 years in over 2000 shows. He is the former owner of a multimedia entertainment company in Argentina. He is a dramatic tenor and has studied with instructors from the Teatro Colon Opera House in Buenos Aires. Atilio was selected as a finalist on the Argentine version of American Idol (and probably would have won!) but he fell in love with Christy and chose come to the US with her. He and Christy were married in August of 2012 and he already has his "green card" and looks forward to becoming an American citizen soon. Although he is still mystified by the absurdities of the English language he enjoys life in America immensely.

Christy Caldwell (Marinelli) is a native of Columbus, Ohio with Irish and Italian roots. She has been a performer from a young age
and majored in Speech and Theatre at Ohio University. She caught the travel bug early and has traveled to 42 countries and lived in the Caribbean, Central America as well as 2 years in Argentina. She and Atilio met on a street corner in Buenos Aires. Christy has been singing and acting in plays and musical theater productions for many years and especially enjoys singing songs by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Gershwin, Cole Porter and Rodgers and Hart. She recently appeared at the Cultural Park, Broadway Palm and Kings Point theaters. She speaks French, Spanish and is learning Italian. She has a warm, lovely mezzo soprano voice and enjoys teaching people to speak English. She and Atilio live in Southwest Florida.
