Willie Campbell was the first head professional and won America's first professional match, the world's premier golf architect Donald J. Ross, a Scot, re-designed the layout here.
A word about the Charities. Founded in 1657, The Scots' Charitable Society is the oldest charitable organization still existing in the Western Hemisphere. The Society awards undergraduate scholarships to the Scottish-American community and provides relief to individuals and Scots' families in need. The JP Music Festival was established by a group of friends with the common goal to bring live music to the community. Now in it's fourth year. The mission of Spontaneous Celebrations is to create and sustain a community cultural life that unites and empowers people for positive change through the arts; to produce seasonal celebrations in the Jamaica Plain and Roxbury neighborhoods; and to maintain a Community Cultural center for all.
