KD Kids is a Seattle Children's Guild working to raise money for Kawasaki Disease research. Kawasaki Disease (KD) is an inflammatory disease that affects the arteries in infants and children, especially the arteries supplying the heart. Our mission is to raise research funds to determine the cause, aid in developing faster diagnosis, and improving therapy to prevent crippling heart disease. KD research at Seattle Children's is led by Dr. Michael Portman, Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Washington and a Pediatric Cardiologist. He is searching for options to improve response to IVIG and prevent irreversible coronary artery damage.
