Growing Gourmet Mushrooms in your Yard and Garden
Workshop Overview: This hands-on workshop will teach you the techniques necessary to grow edible mushrooms in your landscape, whether a vegetable garden, orchard or ornamental understory. We will discuss and demonstrate companion planting with mushrooms in annual and perennial settings. We'll also explore how to make use of waste materials and neglected spaces through mushroom cultivation. This workshop will primarily focus on Wine Cap, Elm Oyster, and Oyster mushrooms.

About the Instructors: Dan Bensonoff is a devoted foodie, farmer, and educator. He began his mycelial adventures as a child when he would go foraging with his grandparents. The beauty of mushrooms eventually led him to try his hand at cultivation. Currently, he lives in Jamaica Plain and works at Newton Community Farm. Dan Schenk is a dedicated gardener and community cultivator. Having studied biology in the Midwest Dan discovered a passion for hiking and foraging in the many forests of Michigan. Currently, Dan lives in Jamaica Plain and works for the Boston Food Forest Coalition.
