Mint Julep
Upsidown*Acrobat presents its 3rd year of fabulous student performances produced and directed by aerial instructors Kiebpoli Calnek (Black*Acrobat) and Madeline Hoak (Upsidown Productions). The showcase features spectacular 360 degree solo, duet, and group choreography on rope, silks, bungee and more by an upbeat cast of 20 high flyers all wrapped up in a rich performative style.
Black*Acrobat (B*A) serves as a platform to increase the visibility and support of "black" people in the arts and other community building ventures. Founded 2009 by *Kiebpoli Calnek, B*A empowers communities and under-served populations through performance, conversation, and by providing affordable professional aerial training. Black*Acrobat has received generous funding and support from Elizabeth Streb, Astrea Foundation, Asian Arts Initiative, and the New York Foundation for the Arts. www.Kiebpoli.com
Upsidown Productions (UP) serves as a springboard for artists to find sustainability via teaching, performing, and producing everything circus. UP is dedicated to creating rich theatrical work, teaching classes that challenge the mind and the body, and producing events rooted in community and opportunity.
