Stirred
Free Street Theater has been creating theater with Chicago communities for 40 years. Since 1969, Free Street Theater has been developing creativity as a force for social change.
"Stirred" is a performance developed by the Free Street teen ensemble exploring themes of social justice. The script they wrote allows the audience to be a fly on the wall in a dilapidating classroom of students desperate for something different. Trying to understand the scope of injustices both inside and outside of the classroom, the students recover the past in present tense with movement and music. Stirred is the whispers of overlooked high school students chained to their desks asking that no child be left behind.
What will happen to our future when the gavel lands?
