"Afterlife is beyond our imagination, but not beyond our hope."
Edgar Lee Master's Spoon River Anthology, published in 1915, was not far off from the adaptation presented by Benevolent Theatre. This very unconventional look at small town American life was controversial in its dark portrayal of society, and how it exposes social justice, and weakening traditional family values. These character epitaphs still resonate in today's modern setting with a fearful commentary that touches the heartstrings of our morality, providing almost hopeful insight to the afterlife.
