Folklife for Families with/Sunshine Music Together, John Ackermann and The Onlies
Come sing with Sunshine Music Together teachers and friends in a wonderful afternoon of children and family music in support of Northwest Folklife!
Join us at the Old Redmond School House Community Center on Sunday, April 27th at 2 pm for Music Together songs performed by beloved Sunshine Music Together teachers and friends. Everyone will be encouraged to sing along and join in the fun. Even if you have never been to a Music Together class, these songs are easily accessible for families with young children to enjoy!
The event will also feature orginal children's songs by John Ackermann (also a well loved local Music Together teacher) and a chance for families to finish the afternoon dancing to original and traditional fiddle-driven music performed by The Onlies "a fantastic young band, oozing with promise, talented way beyond their years".
We are excited to have a chance to share family music making with you and hope to sing and dance with you! Please invite your families and friends! All proceeds go to support Northwest Folklife.
Runtime: 1 hr 15 min Target audience: Families with children 5 and under. Older children of course welcome! Tickets prices: $9 for adults, $5 for kids (6 months and older) -all proceeds to NW Folklife.
Northwest Folklife creates opportunities for all to celebrate, share, and participate in the evolving cultural traditions of the Pacific Northwest. For more information about the organization and the annual festival at the Seattle Center Memorial Day weekend visit www.nwfolklife.org
Music Together is an innovative music and movement program for children ages newborn to age five years and their parents or caregivers, that is based on the belief that all children are inherently musical. Originally offered to the public in 1987, it pioneered the concept of a research-based, developmentally appropriate early childhood music curriculum that strongly emphasizes and facilitates adult involvement. The Onlies perform original and traditional fiddle-driven music, with Celtic, old-time American, and Canadian roots. Members Leo Shannon, Riley Calcagno, and Samantha Braman are Garfield High School (Seattle) sophomores who've literally played together since they were two years old. Singing and playing fiddle, guitar, mandolin, banjo, and piano, they have developed a strong fan base throughout the Pacific Northwest. More information at: www.theonlies.com
