Bullying permeates society. In schools, homes, the workplace, on-line, on streets and highways, everywhere. Statistics show that 1 in 3 adults have been bullied at one time or another in their lives. The percentages are higher for LGBTQ youth. This staggering problem has escalated to the point that some children and young adults resort to self-destructive behavior in an attempt to cope.
In partnership with Colorado Youth for a Change, Standley Lake High School, and the Gay/Straight Alliances of several alternative high schools in the metro Denver area, Harmony: a Colorado chorale will present "Imagine: Songs of Hope and Change" a fresh perspective on this age-old subject.
"Brave", "Same Love", and the sixties hit "Harper Valley PTA" are among the numbers that the all-inclusive LGBTS chorale will be performing. With a theme like bullying, it would be easy to be "preachy", but that is not our aim. We will look at bullying behavior in many types of human relationships. And in a style that is typically Harmony's we will present compassion, concern, provide some education, and hopefully some inspiration and humor.
