Berks Movie Madness Film Festival: "The Corrupt City" (Reading in 1969)
The GoggleWorks Reading, PA
Sunday, October 8. 9:30 a.m. $5 admission. Remember the infamous federal "Wincanton Report" portraying Reading as one of the country's crime capitals? You won't want to miss seeing this 1969 Group W documentary, "The Corrupt City," featuring interviews with some of the leading cops and robbers of the era. Narrated by the late Rod McLeish, it offers some great quotes from former police Chief Charlie Wade and others. Despite the not-so-great video quality, it's still interesting and watchable. Join Reading Mayor Tom McMahon, retired Reading Times editor Ed Taggert and "Corrupt City" director Paul Galan for questions and answers. Visit www.berksmoviemadness.com for more details on the films, the festival and the personalities.
Note: Serating limited to 125. Free parking available on the GoggleWorks parking lot.
