Berks Movie Madness Film Festival: "War Effort," "Virgin President," etc.
The GoggleWorks Reading, PA
Saturday, October 7. Noon to 5:30 p.m. $5 admission. Here's an eclectic assortment of films with local connections. In 2003's "The War Effort" produced by Camp Chaos, President George W. Bush goes to war against evil-doers in what he calls a "new kind of war." 1968's "The Virgin President," co-produced by now-Reading resident and ex-NYC filmmaker Jim Hubbard, bears some resemblance to the current White House and has the prez being succeeded by his naive son. "The Beast With Five Fingers" is an interesting 15-minute horror film made by the late Ed Foley and his Central Catholic buddies. Finally, catch Mt. Penn's own Ed Kemmer starring in a classic American International flick, "Earth vs. The Spider." Very scarrrrry! Ed is also famous for being in the classic early TV series, "Space Patrol." Q&As with Bob Cesca, who did "War Effort," and Jim Hubbard. Visit www.berksmoviemadness.com for more details on the films, the festival and the personalities.
