DARING GREATLY | YOGA & DANCE RETREAT
DARING GREATLY | YOGA & DANCE RETREAT
At Avalon Springs - Northern California - May 9-11, 2014
You have already begun to do great things, but something's been holding you back. Until now! Meet insecurity, doubt, and shame head on. Use your shadow as a springboard to an authentic life: deeper intimacy, expanded creativity, purposeful work and soul satisfaction. Emerge out of your own darkness and let yourself be seen, loved and fully expressed.
Your guides David and Samantha will combine experiential practices of yoga, dance and focused dialogue to guide you deeper into the fantastic, human, full-spectrum life you really want. The weekend combines deep rejuvenation with a potent invitation to live a BIGGER LIFE. Both David and Samantha are transformational movement experts and embodied coaches. Together, they bring over 40 years of experience to support you in your growth.
Why are we working together:
We both stand for staying in relationship even (and especially) when it's tough. We love authenticity. We stand for full self expression, honesty and vulnerability as a spiritual path - full embodiment! We're interested in the journey, in living a meaningful life by continuously rebirthing creativity, living passionately in alignment with purpose, and engaging in whole-person health as a way of life. We want to be with a group of people interested in these things. We want to create a sangha, a community of people ready to own their power and expose their greatness, where we can grow and thrive together, and support each other to live our true potential.
Samantha started channeling dances about war, peace, relationship and spiritual states beyond name or form at the age of 13. She has been a dance priestess ever since, traversing the realms of professional dance and choreography, contact improvisation, site-specific improvisation, capoeira, dance fitness, yoga teaching and training, massage therapy, events production and embodied community development.
She is the founder of Dancing Freedom, Kick Ass With Grace Coaching and PeaceBody Japan. Her work synergizes mindfulness centered in the body, shamanism, soul alchemy, community practice, and an integral vision for evolutionary enlightenment into functional experiences that support individual and planetary wholeness. Her transformational offerings create a safe space to open the heart, express the soul, and to reconnect with the self-generating capacity to experience sufficiency and wholeness. She serves through authenticity, integral perspective, rigorous honesty, divine play, and presence. Samantha holds an MA in Wisdom Spirituality, a self-created degree in Social Theory and The Dance (from UCSC with Honors), is a certified yoga instructor, somatics practitioner, massage therapist, Dream Coach, Reiki Master, and an ordained priestess.
David Schlussel is a yoga teacher, life coach, husband, and father. David experiences yoga as the practice of reconnecting with our wholeness. When we operate from our wholeness, we experience the incredible strength and flexibility that is our potential. David coaches his students from fixed ideas about what they can and can't do, towards life as a playful exploration of possibility.
David began his exploration of yoga with Ashtanga, where he learned the benefit of regular consistent practice. He continued his training by studying Dynamic Yoga, where he discovered the deeper strengths available through activating along the muscular and energetic pathways of the body, and where he developed his passion for yoga philosophy. He is currently inspired by Anusara Yoga, which has infused his practice and teaching with an empowering understanding of alignment, therapeutics, and fun.
David's classes are a flowing celebration of our bodies, designed to exercise, educate, integrate, delight, challenge and recharge. He is known for his warm approachability, contagious curiosity, gentle and liberating hands on adjustments, facilitating healing of old injuries, and offering concepts that support his students both on the mat and in their daily life.
