Music Matters! - Geoffrey Castle Benefit Concert
Nationally, about 45% of foster kids graduate high school. In King County that rate is 48%, and Treehouse's strategic goal is to bring it up to the general average of closer to 80% by 2017.
Musical expression has been shown to improve academic participation and act as a form of therapy ... this concert is directed at supporting foster kids in music and dance through the Treehouse Little Wishes Program. 100% of the proceeds will go towards music lessons, instrument rentals, and/or dance classes for over 6,000 foster kids in Washington. With your ticket and/or donation, you will give foster kids the freedom to express themselves in music, stay in school, and process their emotions in song and/or dance.
It is with great honor that none other than the amazing Geoffrey Castle will be performing for this concert. He is not only redefining what is possible with a violin, he frequently participates in community outreach and school performances to keep music programs alive in schools for ALL kids.
For this concert he will stun the crowd with his pioneering talent on the six-string electric violin. Take the audience on an adventure into Celtic melodies, modern pop, rock, and jazz that will make the experience seem like we are receiving more than we are giving.
This event is created and hosted by the Family Covenant Circle at East Shore Unitarian Church, which is led by Jen Baptist ... a foster kid of nearly 8 years, a singer/dancer, and friend to Geoffrey Castle.
Please join us for an amazing evening of song and dance on Friday March 28th, 2014 from 7p-9p at East Shore Unitarian Church! Tickets will be sold online and at the door. Donations are accepted. If you bring a musical instrument for donation, that can be placed in a foster child's hands ready to play, your ticket fee will be waived.
