Debbie Does Dallas - The Musical
Looking for a way to spice up your summer? You're in luck, as the San Francisco premiere of Debbie Does Dallas: The Musical jiggles its way to the stage this August. Local producers Stroke of Genis Production mount this high-spirited musical spoof, in the same vein of Rocky and Little Shop that follows the plight of our naive, small-town heroine Debbie on her noble quest to make it big on the Dallas cheerleading squad. She'll do absolutely anyone, scratch that - anythng, to make the team.
Debbie Does Dallas: The Muscal is not your grandma's Rodgers and Hammerstein. However, it's not quite your dirty uncle's cheap thrill, either. There is no nudity, but it does have lyrics that will curl your toes and dialogue that would curdle Pats Robertson. It's a silly, fun, porntastic romp that's sure to dazzle audiences, regardless of their "knowledge" of the original film on which the muscal is based. And it proves that one simple cheerlader's dreams really come true.
Debbie Does Dallas: The Musical was adapted by New York actress-director Erica Schmidt with music by Andrew Sherman. It played off-Broadway and was a big hit in Australia. Now, the show can be seen this summer at The Eureka Theater (250 Jackson @ Battery) in San Francisco for the first time ever. This is also the first-ever production to be granted permission from the show's creators to feature a live porn-music band.
