Olympic Music Festival Benefit Concert
The Olympic Music Festival presents a benefit concert featuring dynamic pianist Julio Elizalde. This special pre-season event takes place Saturday April 26, doors open at 1pm concert begins at 2pm at the Port Ludlow Bay Club located at 120 Spinnaker Pl, Port Ludlow, WA. Join us for a stunning performance of virtuosic pieces, performed by our co-artistic director Julio Elizalde and support the Olympic Music Festival as we kick off our 31st season of "Concerts in the Barn". Doors open at 1pm. Ticket includes a complementary glass of Champagne in the Bay Club lobby before the performance and a meet and greet with the artist immediately after the concert. Julio Elizalde Praised as a musician of "compelling artistry and power" by the Seattle Times, the gifted American pianist Julio Elizalde has emerged as one of the most versatile and sought-after artists of his generation. He has performed in many of the major music centers throughout the United States, Europe, and Latin America to popular and critical acclaim.
The summer of 2014 marks his third season as Co-Artistic Director of the Olympic Music Festival near Seattle, Washington. Mr. Elizalde has collaborated with many of the leading musicians of our time. He is the North and South American recital partner to violinist and Sony recording artist Ray Chen, winner of the 2009 Queen Elisabeth Music Competition. He has also performed recitals with world-renowned violinist Sarah Chang. Mr. Elizalde is a member of the New Trio, winner of both the Fischoff and Coleman National Chamber Music Competitions and the recipient of the Harvard Musical Association's prestigious Arthur W. Foote Prize. He was a featured performer for the soundtrack of the 2013 film Jimmy P, composed by Academy Award winner Howard Shore.
Originally, from the San Francisco Bay Area, Mr. Elizalde is a graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the Juilliard School, where he earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in 2011. His principal teachers were Paul Hersh, Jerome Lowenthal, Joseph Kalichstein, and Robert McDonald.
Mr. Elizalde performs with the assistance of an Apple iPad Air, forScore music reading software, and a bluetooth wireless foot pedal made by AirTurn.
