You are welcome to attend the National Network for Educational Renewal's 2009 Annual Conference, celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the first "In Praise of Education" conference held in Bellevue in 1999.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Community, school, university partners working to advance education in a democracy.

The conference opens Thursday, October 15 with a panel of internationally recognized educational leaders: Deborah Meier, John Goodlad, James Comer, and Henry Levin. Carl Glickman, President of the Institute for Schools, Education, and Democracy, will moderate the panel along with George Wood, founder of The Forum for Education and Democracy. Friday Keynote: "Foreshadowing the Future of Public Schools in the United States" presented by Dr. Patricia Wasley, Dean of the College of Education at the University of Washington and Dr. Vicki Phillips, Director of Education, of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. On Saturday, Oct. 17 Nel Noddings will speak, and award recipients will be announced. More details available on the conference website.

Anyone interested in educational renewal, nurturing pedagogy, or advancing education's role in improving democracy is welcome to join this meeting.
