The Bija Children's Choir Irish Story Concert: A Matter of Brogues
The Bija Children's Choir of Sebastopol presents an evening of Irish story, music, and dance based on a traditional tale called "A Matter of Brogues", told by professional storyteller Georgia Churchill. Brogues, or shoes, are a hot topic among the poor village folk of this story, who need them to attend an important wedding, and it is only Conal-- the town fiddler-- who can help them by the magic of his music. The music of Conal is played by fiddle extraordinaire Jon Berger, with the additional guitar playing of Michael Harmon, and piano accompaniment by young Connor Virnig. The Healy Irish Dancers grace the stage with both soft and hard-shoe step dances, and the charming 25-member Bija Children's Choir sing in beautiful harmony throughout the story. A wonderful show for all ages. Sat April 5, 2014 at 7pm, at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts, 282 South High Street. Tickets are $15 adult/chair seating, $5 child/lap or floor seating.
