Walk Tall
This play addresses issues of "due process", a synonym for  "fundamental fairness".  Rev. James L. Meyer, (still) a priest of the Archdiocese of Detroit, challenged his pastor in order to effect fundamental and systemic changes in the Church structure and how it conducts its "business".

WALK TALL illuminates all of these issues, through song and drama. It opens with a street scene in Chicago at the 1968 Democratic National Convention. Phil Ochs leads the song and dance of the idealistic college student supporters of Senator Eugene McCarthy, the peace candidate. The police attack.  Fr. Meyer and Dick Gregory enter dialog before they are arrested.

This is the thrust of the recently completed play WALK TALL, written and directed by Aaron Thomas Timlin after six years of gestation. The title comes from a Cannonball Adderley song of the same name. Jesse Jackson asserts in his introduction to the music: "When you have real change... the most important thing, no matter how dreary the situation is and how difficult it may be... you have to WALK TALL ..."
