Drop the Blocks that Stop You...
Western Sky Studio Berkeley, CA
In an atmosphere of trust and support, accomplished actor-writer Corey Fischer (co-founder of Traveling Jewish Theatre) introduces tools and processes for disarming your inner critic and finding your own creative flow.
Corey writes: "We'll cultivate a sense of serious play in which well explore sound and movement, new ways to use language, how energy can be transformed, and begin to tap the rich worlds of imagery and story we all carry. I've heard that in some indigenous societies, people spend only the minimum amount of time on work that's needed for simple subsistence. The larger part of their days are given to what we might call 'art' or 'play:' music, making beautiful objects, dancing, engaging in ritual.
In our way of life, I think were doing it backwards by begrudging ourselves the time we need to feed our souls with the activities (art and play) and the kind of contact with others that truly nurtures. I offer this workshop as an alternative to staying busy to the point of overwhelm."
Note: Suitable for all levels of experience in the expressive arts (including zero), and for ages 12 and older.
