String Arcade CD Release Party and Video Game Play Night!
The String Arcade is a new recording of video game music arranged for string quartet. This evening we'll be celebrating this new release with a performance by The String Arcade Players [Alisa Rose (violin), Emily Onderdonk (viola), Robin Reynolds (cello) and Celia Harris (violin), with guest Philip Brezina (violin)] and a whole lot of video games.

There will be 2 rooms of games, including arcade machines (courtesy of High Scores Arcade), old consoles like Sega Genesis, Nintendo Entertainment System, Turbogrfx, (courtesy of The Made) and several indie game studios bringing their brand new games to share with you.

The quartet will perform selections from this new recording which includes music from Minecraft, Plants Vs. Zombies, Portal 2, Galaga, Tron, Secret of Monkey Island 2, Altered Beast, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and more.

Just ADDED! We will also be joined by Steve Kirk and Nils Frykdahl, the composer and the vocalist from the Scurvy Scallywags Sea Shanties (if you've played the game, then you'll know...) who will be interspersing their Pirate Shanties throughout the show! (with lyrics on the big screen, sing along, Yo Ho HO!) gave The String Arcade 5/5 stars and said "This is one of those examples where "The String Arcade takes a theme from a game and makes it better!"  The new CD will be available for purchase, and all of the proceeds from this show will be donated to the Alameda Music Project (, a new after school, K-5 music education program for underserved youth.

Adults $20 (performance + games!)
Adults + CD $25 (performance + games + a copy of the CD!)
Children under 12 $5 (performance + games)
JUST PLAY GAMES $5 - if you don't want to see the wonderful performance, you can simply come and play games! The downstairs game room is open from 7-9:30, and the theater game room is open after the performance, from 8:30 - 9:30.
