Tonight is an extra special welcome home for Don and Victoria Armstrong, formerly of Saratoga and now of New Mexico. For the second half of 2008 the Armstrongs were sidelined by a sudden crisis in Victoria's health. Caff Lena, regional musicians, and numerous fans stepped forward to generate financial support to carry the Armstrongs through.
They return now healed and triumphant to the Caff Lena stage for an evening of sweet, joyful, original songs flavored by the sounds and images of their home in the Rio Grande Valley. Victoria sings and supports the band on keyboards and guitar. Husband Don joins in with vocal harmonies and leads with driving Latin guitar. Old friends Tony Markellis on bass and Ed Lowman on fiddle round out the sound.
The Armstrongs are highly aclaimed songwriters whose work has been recorded by Judy Collins, John Denver, Bill Staines and many others.
Note: Caffe Lena is an all-ages listening room that does not serve alcohol. Desserts, light vegetarian fare, and organic fair-trade coffee are offered at all shows. //
