Romantasy Cabaret - 04/25/09
Romantasy Cabaret, a variety cabaret show with an added carnival and big top vibe, is back for season three in 2009.
Speakeasy Sins, The Gin Joints a-Jumpin, take place at Club Red and Red Owl, 2155 East University Drive in Tempe on April 25th.
Since 2007, the events director Lucy Morals has mixed up an ever-changing concoction of singing, dancing, lowbrow comedy, and freakish feats with her vintage approach to modern variety. The third act of each show features lovely burlesque beauties who bare almost all.
With its Roaring Twenties theme this season, pearls, pretend pistols, and spats will be in abundance. The audience is also encouraged to take part in the shows atmosphere by dressing up for the evening either in evening wear or in 1920s style garb. Those who do arrive in costume will receive free raffle tickets for chances to win tickets to future shows.
Romantasy Cabaret boasts a cast and crew of about thirty of Phoenixs most creative performers. Audiences are guaranteed a wide variety of freakish feats, barely-dressed beauties and naughty humor. In addition to a large number of new, exciting acts, featured returning artists include Mother Fakir of Strange Family Circus, burlesque beauty Dolly Diamonds, and the unique talents of Motley Sue, who spins dangerous weapons at fervent speeds just a few feet from the front row.
Also returning for the third season are Valley funnyman and songwriter Tom Tuerff and the tantalizing High Pimpstress, whose unique acrobatic performances nearly always cause a panic in the audience.
In addition, three of the Valleys musical acts will be performing in the Red Owl concert room, next door to Club Red. Enjoy music by The Undertone and Former Friends of Young Americans as well as other bands to be announced.
Ms. Morals urges advance purchase of tickets, as Romantasy Cabaret has sold out every show to date.
Ebullient Praise for Romantasy Cabaret
The show was great. I have seen the show three times now and enjoy every performance. The acts are always different; Some I like more than others, but all in all it is a lot of fun. -- C. Medina, Phoenix.
I came expecting the same spectacular show I saw before (which I would have gladly watched), but was surprised to see the folks at Romantasy had fresh acts that were just as amazing as last time. S. Irvine, Tempe
