Red Dirt Road was formed shortly after Susy, Pat and Doug met in a local song swap. They had similar musical tastes and loved singing together. Soon songs took on arrangements and the group started writing songs and composing original tunes together and performing in local venues in the Northwest corner of Connecticut, Berkshires and Hudson Valley.
Doug Mathewson, Susannah Marker, Peter Nelson and Missy Alexander perform a blend of Americana, western swing, bluegrass and gospel.
Susy Marker's strong vocal is backed up by her fiddle. Pat Walker directs the vocal harmonies and supplies her southern charm with vocals and banjo. Missy Alexander, songwriter and vocalist. Doug Mathewson on vocals, dobro, mandolin and guitar. Bill Petkanus on guitar and mandolin. Peter Nelson on bass. Songwriters Doug Mathewson, Susy Marker, Peter Nelson and Missy Alexander provide the repertoire.
They're released two CD's including Red Dirt Road Live at the Towne Crier and Southern Wind featuring popular tunes such as Shakin' Down in Mexico, Rodeo Days, Dawsonville and Southern Wind.
Opening for Red Dirt Road is local Hudson Valley singer-songwriter David Ray.
