Consonare Chorale: Feel The Spirit
With Special Guests:
The Brown Sisters
Consonare devotes an evening to the American art form of spirituals and gospel music! We proudly feature gospel trio The Brown Sisters in collaboration. Consonare will set up the gospel tradition with revered classics. Feel the spirit in every note with a soft and tender beckoning of the heart in Agnus Dei, and Rachmaninoff's All Night Vigil with Богородице Дѣво (Bogoroditse Devo). Take a transcendent look at our universe filled with Stars by Eriks Esenvalds. Our eclectic offerings include Baba Yetu (The Lord's Prayer in Swahili), which you may recognize from its fame as the rousing soundtrack for Civilization VI. We round out the evening with the keystone spirituals of Moses Hogan, including My Soul's Been Anchored in the Lord. We promise your spirit will be lifted!
Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, the Brown Sisters have been singing gospel and inspirational music for over 30 years. Joanna Williams, Leah Harrison, Dorcas Smith and Rachel Harrison, are four of six children. Much of their musical development was cultivated in church by singing as a group, performing in concerts and conventions, singing in the choir and leading worship in their congregation! Their love and passion for music has allowed them the opportunity to open several times for the extraordinary woman, Dr. Maya Angelo. In addition, they have opened for gospel artist CeCe Winans, sang at a celebrity basketball event, hosted by Jaime Foxx, numerous Trail Blazer Games and performed with the Oregon Symphony at several Gospel Christmas concerts.
The chorale is an ensemble of passionate and accomplished musicians. Our name comes from a desire to come together "to harmonize, sound, and resonate" with the ideas and aesthetics encompassed in excellent choral literature. Via interpretation we are able to express the profound effect that music has in our lives.
