Chef Chris Whaley and his partner Jenny Nickolaus traveled the country, opening restaurants to much fanfare--from New York to San Francisco, and now they have brought all their passion and experience to Portland to open up their dream restaurant. The American Local serves food that pairs well with cocktails and wine, and makes no bones about helping you to enjoy Chris' eclectic, delicious fare perfectly with your favorite beverage.
Portland is made up of many food artisans who have made their way to Portland, and The American Local is no exception--in this case the two had Portland in their sites as they traveled North America generating ideas that they wanted to introduce to this food-crazy city.
Diners who sign up for this great event will get a tour through their tiered menus, with drinks. Six+ courses.
As is the case with all Portland Food Adventures, ticket-buying adventurers will receive not only a commentary about the chef's favorite Portland haunts -- but certificates to Chris' faves: Nong's Kao Man Gai, Shut Up And Eat, and Savoy Tavern (good for use at Peter Bro's new All Ways, open in May.
Portland Food Adventures events are a great date idea, and perfect for clients or small groups. Multiple FOOD/DRINK EXPERIENCES FOR THE PRICES OF ONE TICKET! Multi-course dinner and wine/drinks AND GRATUITY, ALONG with certificates are included in the $125 ticket.
A portion of proceeds will go to benefit Oregon Dog Rescue.
LEGAL STUFF (and SMOKING POLICY): Please read before buying tickets. We respectfully request that guests REFRAIN FROM SMOKING DURING THE EVENT (this means getting up during the dinner and going outside to smoke, and returning), as this is a communal dining experience. Portland Food Adventures reserves the right to refuse service to any patron who smokes or acts in an inappropriate manner. No refund will be given, since the restaurant will have planned the meal for a particular number of guests. Since this is a communal dining experience we ask you to be respectful of other guests and restaurant employees in every respect. There may be expiration dates for your certificates. Tickets are non-refundable, but buyers may call 503 208 4290 to change the name of the reservation at will-call up 24 hours before the event, if for whatever reason you choose to give the ticket to someone else.
By coming to this event, unless you request otherwise in writing, you acknowledge that there will be photographers at the event, and the use of your image in blogs or for any reasons is authorized by you. Please inform any guests for whom you are buying tickets.

INCLEMENT WEATHER: If the restaurant is open on the night of the event, the event goes on. Refunds or credits for a future events will be issued within a week after the event, only if the restaurant is closed on the night of the event due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
