"Astonishing. Unclassifiably original. And frighteningly good."

- NPR Music

"Makes the one-man band approach look effortless."

- NY Times

"A gnarly composite of blues and folk, a one-man-band of epic sonic proportions."

- Paste "Best of What Next"

"Delicate, precise fingerpicking and raw, whiskey-soaked vocals"

- Consequence of Sound

Performing live with nothing but a guitar and a handmade kickdrum built out of an old suitcase, Austin, TX's "astonishing one-man-show" (NPR Music) Shakey Graves has quickly risen from obscurity into the national spotlight since the release of his debut full-length LP "Roll the Bones."

Nearly two years later, as word of his haunting lo-fi recordings and contrastingly explosive live shows spreads, the self-released album continues to sell at a vigorous pace, consistently ranking near the top of Bandcamp's digital "best-seller" charts. The album was recently released as a limited-edition vinyl LP, which sold out almost instantly. New listeners around the world continue to discover his music every day, often through a series of live performance videos on YouTube (which have collectively racked up well over 1.5 million views). His videos for MySpace and Cadillac's "One Two Watch" documentary series have also gathered over 3 millions views alone.

Along with breakout festival performances at Pickathon, Austin City Limits, SXSW, Montreal Jazz Fest, Edmonton Folk Fest and the Americana Music Conference last year, Shakey has been selling out headlining shows around the country, and has recently toured alongside artists like Shovels & Rope, Phosphorescent, Robert Plant, The Devil Makes Three, Robert Ellis and Old Crow Medicine Show.
Critics are starting to take notice too, earning him coverage from NPR Music, PBS, The New York Times, Bloomberg News, Paste Magazine, The AV Club, Consequence of Sound, Brooklyn Vegan and other national outlets.
In his hometown, Shakey's shows are the stuff of legend. Recently featured on the cover of Austin Monthly Magazine, the Mayor has even given him his own local holiday. February 9th is officially proclaimed "Shakey Graves Day" in Austin.

Shakey has a huge year ahead of him, with a live compilation album planned for this spring, a new studio album out in late 2014, and a string of festival bookings including Hangout, Sasquatch!, Newport Folk, Stagecoach, Firefly, Telluride Blues & Brews and more TBA.

Opener Whiskey Shivers returns to Midland after nearly literally burning the house down last year. A freewheelin', trashgrassin', folk tornado, the Whiskey Shivers take traditional instrumentation, soak it in gasoline and send it into outer space. Breakneck speeds, killer grooves and impeccable musicianship: it's enough to make Bill Monroe himself do a double-take as he spins in his grave.

With upright bass, fiddle, washboard, banjo, guitar, and reasonably priced merchandise, Whiskey Shivers adds a fine layer of grit on top of the hard-driving rhythms of traditional bluegrass. They've been called everything from "trashgrass" to "hardcore roots" to "crazy-assed redneck music"  whatever the words, the meaning is the same: Whiskey Shivers brings the house down.
