Valentine's Day Play Festival
Atwater Playhouse cordially invites you to The Valentine's Day Play Festival! What better way to prepare for a romantic holiday than to see romance played out live!
A collection of six heart-warming one-act plays that all share a central theme: true love conquers all. These contemporary love stories explore the full gamut of emotions experienced when the opportunity for true love arises. The journey is hilarious and heart-breaking, but sure to leave the audience feeling the full warmth of the Valentine's Day spirit.
Synopses:
"Give It back"
It's the night before Shelly's wedding and she's realized she is about to marry the wrong man. Our play opens with Shelly arriving at her ex-boyfriend's house (Doug) who she broke-up with eight months earlier. Before talking to Doug, however, she must first convince his best friend, Bob, that she deserves another chance. She's a little drunk and has to muster the courage to take the biggest risk of all: chasing true love.

"As Time Goes By"
Joe is a shy, introspective, pretty woman. On one fateful night she meets Tony who she believes is the love of her life. She plans to give herself to him but, unfortunately, Tony disappears. After three weeks of looking, Joe is about to give up. Her best friend, Marie, refuses to let her quit and takes her on a quest to find Joe's man. Marie doesn't succeed... but fate does.

"The Splendor"
Danielle has everything. She's brilliant, beautiful and on the fast track to being a top film producer in Hollywood. She has the "perfect" boss, Ben, who has "one of the most successful movie franchises in history..." When fate intervenes in the form of Jacob, a newly published novelist with the true soul of an artist, Danielle has the chance to see that the path she's on leads nowhere. But will she see it, or will it pass her by?

"Homeless"
Alexis is a great lawyer. She's attractive, smart, and caring. "The only f'n lawyer who is," according to her best friend, Lisa. It's Valentine's Day and Lisa's husband is in Las Vegas to see a fight. Lisa is not happy. She seeks help from Alexis. In doing so, she unknowingly prepares Alexis to receive an opportunity for the greatest kind of love which she would otherwise never see coming.

"The Threesome"
A classic love triangle. Paige has a sexy, great boyfriend, Nate. The problem is that Paige's closest friend, Amber, fell in love with Nate at first sight and Nate felt the same for Amber. After a recent spat between Nate and Paige, Amber visits Nate to "advise" him of what to do. The visit turns into something more than just advice and the evening gets a little too hot.

"Theia Mania"
Translated from Greek it means, "Divine Madness" or in thematic terms, "Love at First Sight" as if by the hand of God. Julianna is finishing her masters degree. Her mentor and writing teacher, Connor, is married. We all know what happens here.... When their feelings become undeniable, both of them go looking for help Julianna, to her trusted but avant-garde shrink, Vickie. And Connor, to his womanizing but experienced buddy, Ross. Can true love be stopped or will it conquer all?
