Everybody knows that the symptom of a poorly running car ("It's making this clunk-clunk noise") is the effect of a problem, not its cause, and certainly not its solution.
How do you approach a problem to get at its root cause? Do you jump in and start treating symptoms, or do you stop to consider whether there may be deeper issues that need your attention?
If you only address the symptoms what you see on the surface you may miss the problem, which may pop up again and again. If, instead, you look deeper to figure out why the problem is occurring, you can fix it for good.
Root Cause Analysis is a business management tool that has broad practical applicability in addressing the problems of everyday life. It helps people find out why the problem occurred in the first place so that you can figure out what to do to keep it from happening again. This course is an introduction to the techniques of Root Cause Analysis.
Riley Royce Smith spent 30 years as a Nuclear Lead Auditor, Quality Control Inspector, Corrective Action Program Specialist, and Senior Root Cause Analyst in the nuclear industry.
This course has one class session: Tuesday, March 11 from 10am-12 noon.
