"God, Save Me from God!" with Brian D. McLaren (presented by Companions on the Inner Way)
"GOD, SAVE ME FROM GOD!"
"God, Save Me from God!" These words, adapted from Meister Eckhart, reflect a struggle that many of us feel: a tension between our conventional images of God, our language for God, our formulations about God on the one hand and our intuitions of, experiences with, and hopes about God on the other. Rather than trying to suppress this tension, we will explore it as an arena for spiritual growth and creative spiritual exploration.
About Our Speaker: Brian D. McLaren is an author, speaker, activist, and public theologian. A former college English teacher and pastor, he is an ecumenical global networker among innovative Christian leaders. A former parish pastor and mentor to pastors and new churches, he is a popular conference speaker for denominational and ecumenical leadership gatherings in the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia. His public speaking and his many books cover a broad range of topics including postmodern thought and culture, biblical studies, evangelism, leadership, global mission, spiritual formation, worship, pastoral survival and burnout, inter-religious dialogue, ecology, and social justice.
Format: Each day includes lecture and dialogue with Brian McLaren Bell; small group community around spiritual reading; corporate and individual times of silence and contemplation; worship with Eucharist; and communing with God through movement, art, and nature.
