Bella Luna
Saint Paul City Ballet would like to introduce you to Boulder-based choreographer Peter Davison. Bella Luna is Mr. Davison's contemporary ballet that explores themes of love, loss, and friendship through traditional characters and situations of the Commedia dell'Arte a popular form of theatre created in Italy and spread throughout Europe beginning in the 16th century.
Mr. Davison's mission as a choreographer is to highlight the story ballet form, as he feels that it is still important and relevant, even in contemporary work. He draws from his background in vaudevillian style entertainment to create story structures that work within a dance context, and incorporates storytelling elements of props, characters and make-up to bring everything to life.
In addition to Bella Luna, two world premieres by Zoé Emilie Henrot and Julie Marie Muskat will be performed
