Day Three of Seattle Microtonal Guitar Festival
Neil Haverstick and Jon Catler, two of the pioneers in the world of "Microtonal Guitar" will be performing solo pieces on Fretless, 19 and 34 tone equal temperament, 12 tone ultra plus and Extended Just Intonation Guitars.
The Seattle Microtonal Guitar Festival, July 20-23, 2006 features performances and seminars drawing together local and international guitarists who celebrate harmony through a variety of musical styles but who are all unified in one fundamental ideal: to expand the boundaries of Western Guitar Music. Microtonal music is music using microtones -- intervals of less than a semitone, the "notes between the cracks" of the piano, or standardized frets of the guitar. Over the course of the weekend Guitarists Tom Baker, Chris Morda, Neil Haverstick, and Jon Catler will be playing on fretless, as well as instruments with different configurations ofextra frets in equal and non-equal temperament systems.
