Oregon Campus Compact will hold the fourth annual Civic Engagement Awards on April 23, 2009. We are proud to announce that the theme for this year's Civic Engagement Awards is Engagement in Sustainability. Oregon Campus Compact is deeply committed to sustainability, service, and the greater purpose of generational stewardship that links the two ideas.
Prior to the Awards, a free educational forum will convene students, faculty, and sustainable business leaders from 3:30-5:00pm. The forum will showcase the work of our Awardees and address some of the top sustainability issues facing Oregon. Some of the potential topics include: How do we cement Oregon's place in the alternative energy sector in order to support economic sustainability? How can we support international technology transfer and collaboration in order to develop systems of best practices in sustainable industries? What do we need to do to increase the presence of sustainable education programs in Oregon, and in doing so, increase their national visibility?
