RECSI March Dinner Program "Net Zero (R)evolution"
Net Zero (R)evolution
Integral Group is pleased to announce Integral's Managing Principal David Kaneda will present "Net Zero (R)evolution"
With experience designing dozens of NZEB's (Net Zero Energy Building), including the first commercial NZEB in the US, Kaneda will discuss the ongoing evolution of NZEB design including: lessons learned, innovative new concepts and technologies being incorporated to make the next generation of NZEB's cost effective and emerging challenges for design teams, utilities and communities.
As Net Zero Energy Buildings become mainstream, collaboration has become the key to effectively create buildings with dramatically lower energy use. Experience combined with new technologies and dramatically lower equipment costs have resulted in buildings with lower first cost, allowing NZEB's to become an attractive investment for "for profit" developers and building owners, opening the door for a new generation of buildings. "As new technologies develop and cost models change, the design approach and thinking related to designing zero and positive energy buildings has changed radically," explains Kaneda. "As a result, net zero energy buildings have become more reliable and more affordable."
While most designers, developers and owners are stuck in the old paradigm of "net zero energy buildings = complex + expensive," a small group of enlightened design teams and developers who approach zero energy buildings as investments have honed their skills over multiple iterations and are taking on the challenge of developing deep green, zero energy buildings with new strategies and technologies that promise to cut energy costs and increase reliability and in many cases at little or no additional cost compared to a standard building.
About Integral Group: Integral Group is an interactive global network of design professionals collaborating under a single deep green engineering umbrella. The organization provides a full range of building system design and energy analysis services, with a staff widely regarded as innovative leaders in their fields.
