A Taste of the World: Ethnic Cuisine for a Cause
Need to escape the Winter Blues? Enjoy ethnic cuisine and/or trying new things? Want to help make a difference in the lives of those around the world?
Please join us for a night of AUTHENTIC ETHNIC FARE and CROSS-CULTURAL AMBIENCE, while SUPPORTING missionary MANDY KEARNS as she prepares for the WORLD RACE! Doors will open at 5:30pm. Dinner is expected to be served shortly after 6pm. Cash, check, and online charitable contribution options will be available for those who would like to support above and beyond cost of admission.
Mandy is a 26-year-old Wisconsin native who relocated to the Tower Grove East neighborhood in June 2012. She absolutely loves living in this part of St. Louis and has since become a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, as well as volunteered with Acts 1:8 Mission Society and Christian Friends of New Americans. She is most recognizable, though, as one of the Gelateria del Leone's friendly neighborhood baristas!
As a young girl, Mandy developed a strong passion for helping others and particularly in the form of cross-cultural Christian mission work, a desire that continued to grow throughout her youth. In 2010, she graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin with a B.A. in Missions (and a Spanish minor) and has since been accepted to the World Race. In July 2014, she will embark on this 11-month mission opportunity to 11 different countries, backpacking and pitching tent around the world, doing things like clean water and sanitation projects, various building projects, working with HIV/AIDS orphans and HIV prevention education (something she's been dreaming about since 7th grade!), human/sexual trafficking awareness & survivor outreach, and loving on those living in severe poverty. As she prepares for this journey, she asks that you please consider attending this fundraising event!
If you'd like to learn more about her or the World Race, or to stay updated and/or financially support, please visit her blog: mandykearns.theworldrace.org.
