BoardTalks™ is a facilitated peer learning group that meets once a month for 3 hour-long sessions. Participants from all types of non-profit organizations meet to discuss "board best practices" and to address current challenges facing their board of directors in a confidential and collegial setting. The monthly meetings allow time for participants to acquire and practice new skills in order to be the most effective board members. The sessions are fun, spirited and practical! This cohort group will meet from 5:00pm - 8:00pm on Tuesdays March 4, April 1, May 6, and June 3.
BoardTalks™ will be facilitated by Christine Martin. Christine is the principal of HR Strategies International, a consulting firm which supports nonprofit organizations through leadership and human resources capacity. She has a unique background with over 20 years experience as an executive and leader in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors, developing organizations and helping them run more effectively. She has served as an Interim Executive Director at nine organizations over the past five years, providing leadership and support to boards and staff during many challenging transitions. Christine is currently completing her sixth year on the board and second year as board chair at Child Care Resources, and has served in leadership capacities on a number of other boards and organizations. Christine is a partner at Social Venture Partners. Christine is thrilled to collaborate with Janet Boguch and Non-Profit Works to help share ideas and build board capacity and education through BoardTalks™.
Sessions are held at our comfortable Capitol Hill office; accessible, free parking is available; the bus line is at the corner of her office block; bikes are welcome.
In addition to discussing board roles and responsibilities, the board building cycle and current governance trends, specific topics are based on registrants' requests. Reference materials are provided to help build the board members' tool boxes and to be shared with other members of your board. Enrollment is limited!
