ON A MISSION: A Volunteer Medical Mission to Haiti
IN PERSON: Director Ofer Cohen and Director of NGO Haiti Needs You Tim Ryan!
On a Mission tells the story of three medical mission teams to Haiti. Documentary filmmaker Ofer Cohen has followed these medical teams since 2008, documenting their triumphs and struggles with the acute medical needs of this nation. On a Mission paints a vivid picture of Haiti in the aftermath of the 2010 7.0 magnitude earthquake that struck Port-au-Prince leaving 230,000 dead, more than a million homeless and over 500,000 living as refugees in small towns through country. This natural disaster caused an unfathomable human calamity. While the devastation of Haiti succeeds in capturing global attention, rarely does the media venture beyond the capital city's boundaries. It is precisely these small cities and villages that are brought to life by this documentary film. On a Mission tells the compelling story of a Haiti largely unknown to the outside world, the unimaginable human suffering of its inhabitants and the ray of light and hope brought by the members of three medical mission teams.
