ShawnMikael(s) in CoHi: Happy New Year, and So Long, Archie!
The DC improv scene's favorite Archie, Archie Cubarubbia is leaving the area. Leaving cold DC for the warmer climes of Miami. Doesn't he know that after he's done getting tan, drinking fruity exotic drinks with umbrellas in them, and checking out all the hot, fit bods on South Beach, that there's nothing left to do except get up the next morning and do it all again? Heh. Loser.
Well, so long then, Dr. Coobs. You've got Miami, and South Beach. We've got DC, and the headquarters of the United States Department of the Interior, which, is, like, *in control* of South Beach.
To that end, we're sending Archie off in a set that will allow him to play with his favorite troupe, The Archie Cubarrubia Players. Come watch him make shit up for the very last time in DC.
But before we do that, we'll have the Studio 1469 debut of Hand Poured, some primo-hilarious DC-grown sketch stylings. Won't get that in Miami either, Archie.
Hand Poured is:
The Archie Cubarrubia Players are:
And, of course: Archie Cubarrubia
And finally, us, ShawnMikael(s):
Our Host? One of our favorite comedians on the DC stand-up scene, Nate Johnson!
But: you can't see any of it unless you buy a ticket. And you know how that works: we only can sell a total of 10 (TEN!) at the door. So get yours early and often...
Remember: Studio 1469 is BYOB!: Keep in mind that the space doesn't sell alcohol. However, you are welcome to bring your own alcoholic beverages to the show (provided, of course, you are of legal drinking age and aren't a gargantuan douche).
ShawnMikael(s) merchandise (read: "cool logo-emblazoned t-shirts") will be on sale. $15 each, available in all sizes
The Space: Studio 1469 (http://studio1469.com/), located in the rear of 1469 Harvard Street, is not your normal performance space: one part artist's hideaway, one part "white-box" theater, it's a hidden gem in bustling Columbia Heights. Please note that access isn't available on Harvard Street, but by entering via the alley off 15th Street between Harvard Street and Columbia Road. Once in the alley, walk straight to the end, where you'll find the space. More information. Directions, and a map are available here:
Show up. Say goodbye to Archie. Laugh with him. Or at him. He won't mind either.
