Description
Musique a la Mode, a chamber music ensemble dedicated to new and multi media performance, will present "Love Has No Bounds", a concert in response to California's Proposition 8 on February 15th at 2:00 p.m. at St. Marks Church-in-the-Bowery (located at East 10th Street and Second Avenue).  The concert will showcase works by Gordon Beeferman, Aaron Copland, Paula Kimper, and Lowell Lieberman. Works will include scenes from the lesbian opera "Patience and Sarah" by Ms. Kimper (Libretto by Wende Persons, Stage Director: Beth Greenberg, Conductor: Braden Toan),  "San Francisco Songs" by Mr. Beeferman, "As it fell upon a day" by Aaron Copland, and Mr. Lieberman's "Quintet for Piano and Strings".

Participating performers will include Melissa Fogerty (soprano), Laurie Rubin (mezzo-soprano), Rosalie Sullivan (mezzo-soprano), Jeffrey Worthey (flute), Jennifer Taira (clarinet), James Smith (oboe), Sydney Braunfeld (french horn), Angelia Cho (violin), Will Frampton (viola), Michael Haas (cello), Hannah Shields (piano), and the Tessera String Quartet, as well as both Mr. Beeferman and Mr. Lieberman.

The afternoon's concert will benefit The Hetrick-Martin Institute, home of the Harvey Milk High School, the largest and oldest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth-service provider supporting New York Citys most vulnerable and at-risk community. Hetrick-Martin provides a safe environment with year-round free services that are designed to place these young people in a nurturing environment, instill in them a strong sense of belonging, and provide them with the skills necessary to become thriving citizens in their community and obtain opportunities of a lifetime. Tickets are $25 (or $30 at the door on the day of the performance).
