RVA RISE 2014
RVA Eventspace and NATIVES are happy to bring the Capital City a new and innovative take on bringing in the New Year! This event will be a new platform for establishing new traditions based on the strength of RVA's local culture and embrace the qualities that make this city and region great.
The main purpose of this event is to raise funds for some of RVA's favorite non-profits. They may be small but all are doing great things to help add to the city's robust creative energy. Some of the beneficiaries of the event are:
Renew Richmond ArtSpace Slam Richmond Project Yoga Richmond and others...
RVA RISE 2014 Features: 3 Venue Spaces 6 Bands Free Social Toast Food Truck Court RVA Beer and Virginia Wine
There are several unique elements that are being rolled out for this event:
- instead of a ball drop at midnight, there will be an "RVA" logo RISE - a Social Toast with local beers, cider and Virginia wines will replace the standard midnight champagne toast - multiple venues and atmospheres for one low price - a live brass band procession at midnight
Three Rooms of Live Music
Eventspace: Mighty Joshua (Reggae) Beast Wellington (Vocal Jazz, Modern Covers) ArtSpace: The Roger Carroll Band (Jazz) My Son The Doctor (Eastern European, Balkan Folk) The Shop: Photosynthesizers (Hip Hop, Soul) Canary Oh Canary (Rock)
Social Toast One of the unique twists we are taking on the NYE concept is a local beer, wine and cider Social Toast instead of a typical midnight champagne toast. Each guest receives a Social Toast drink ticket can be redeemed at any time during the night and is to be used to have a drink with a "stranger", or someone you did not know before that night. Building relationships is one of the keys to RVA's success as a community and we want to emphasize that going into the new year.
