On Sunday, December 29th, DUB MISSION proudly closes out 2013 with a special Sound System show featuring the Bay Area exclusive appearance of West Coast's Raggamuffin AmBASSador MISTA CHATMAN.
MISTA CHATMAN is one of the most versatile Ragga MCs on the scene. His booming voice and energetic flow is rooted in the foundation Sound System style of the past yet still versatile enough to ride modern reggae riddims as well as other
genres of music. He has recorded and performed with top international acts such as Delhi 2 Dublin, Subatomic Sound System, Yellowman, Collie Buddz, Mad Professor and many others. His most recent projects include appearing on the tune
"Plunderkillas" by Vienna's EDM band, Kung Fu Divas and DJ Sep's Biggering Riddim EP. His new solo single "Waiting" will be released in early 2014 through his own ChatAttak Productions. Chatman's last appearance in the Bay Area
was at Dub Mission's 16th Anniversary in 2012 when he simply killed it.
DJ SEP is the founder, promoter, and main resident DJ at Dub Mission. For 22 years, Sep was also on Bay Area radio: first at college radio station KUSF (University of San Francisco) and later at Berkeley's public radio station, KPFA, where
her eclectic electronic mix program "Off the Beaten Path" aired from 1994 to 2010. In 2003, she and journalist/DJ Ron Nachmann aka Shockman realized and compiled Babylon Is Ours: The USA in Dub, a compilation of all-exclusive American
dub tracks released by Germany's Select Cuts Records. In 2009, Mochipet's Daly City Records released her remixes (with Jason Short) of "Get Your Dub Wet" featuring Juakali and Mista Chatman. DJ Sep has been nominated for an SF
Weekly Music Award (best DJ) and has spun at venues and clubs in London, New York, Washington DC, Miami, Los Angeles and throughout the Bay Area. She has performed with for a wide array of international artists, including Sly & Robbie,
The Wailers, Culture, Big Youth, Les Nubians, Rachid Taha, Kinky, and The Cinematic Orchestra. Her latest EP of original music, the Biggering Riddim, features dr. Israel and Mista Chatman and is available for free on www.soundcloud.com/djsep
Dub Mission resident VINNIE ESPARZA is a staple of the San Francisco DJ scene and spins at various parties around the city including Hella Tight and Groove Merchant Friday. In 2000, Vinnie was voted "Best Local DJ" in the S.F. Bay Guardian's
"Best of the Bay" edition. The next year he was awarded the City Search Editor's Award for "Best Local DJ." He was also nominated for "Best Local DJ" in the SF Weekly in both 2001 and 2003. He was the first DJ to play the Monterey Jazz Festival
on their 50th Anniversary and was asked to return the following year. He has also been asked to spin the Quebec City Jazz Festival, again as their first ever DJ booking. He has compiled the Loose & Juicy collection for Vanguard Records, Viva
CuBop 2 for Ubiquity Records and coordinated the reissue of Bobby Montez's Jungle Fantastique for the same label. He spins a wide variety of music, from jazz to hip-hop and everything in between.
Recently voted Bay Area's best reggae club and entering its 18th year, DUB MISSION is one of the longest-running dub and reggae parties in the world, presenting cutting-edge dub, roots reggae and dancehall every Sunday at Elbo Room.
