Spotlight on Opera is delighted to present Maestro Steven Crawford for private work and public master classes with serious students of opera at all levels; as well as conducting a reading of Verdi's masterpiece, Il trovatore, with professional soloists and choristers from the community.
Metropolitan Opera conductor, Principal Conductor & Artistic Adviser at Opera Idaho, Principal Conductor at Land of Enchantment Opera, coach and educator Steven Crawford is among the most versatile musicians on the classical scene today. He has conducted in opera companies and orchestras around the United States, is an active concert pianist/accompanist, and is in the top tier of coaches in the opera world, working with singers such as Sherill Milnes, Carol Neblett, Justino Diaz, Barbara Daniels, Pablo Elvira, Aprile Millo, Ortrun Wenkel and Håkan Hagegåard. He was recently awarded the honor of "Vocal Coach of the Year" by Classical Singer magazine. Long active in the training both singers and instrumentalists, he has been a major presence at a number of vocal training programs in the U.S., including Intermezzo, Co-operative, the Westchester Vocal Institute, and the University of Texas at Austin Opera program.
