Paul Pfau w/ Hollis K
Paul Pfau (rhymes with "wow") is a soulful singer-songwriter and guitar player from the Baltimore-Washington Metro Area. With hands like Hendrix and a voice that croon's with Sinatra's charm, Paul brings an authentic sound to the modern era. His unique approach to music combines british blues & New Orleans funk rhythms, with hook-laden pop melodies. After graduating from Shepherd University with an Economics degree in 2010, Paul decided to forgo the "9 to 5 in order to begin his career as a full-time recording artist and performer. By 2011 he was nominated Best New Artist by the Washington Area Music Association, opened for The Lumineers, and had the distinct pleasure of jamming with the Beach Boys.
In 2012 he began recording his debut full-length album "Happy To Be" on which he worked with award-winning mixing engineer Jeff Juliano (John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Dave Matthews Band, et al) and award-winning mastering engineer Brad Blackwood (Maroon 5, Keith Urban, O.A.R, et al). "Happy To Be" sounds like a man having fun. Strong rhythms with blues undertones and a balls to the wall approach to singing and songwriting make this musical outing simply thrilling. If one measure of an artist's success is the intensity of support that artist receives from his fan base, then Paul's already off the charts. Asking, in his Kickstarter campaign to complete the record, for a meager $15,000, Paul raised $8,000 in the first 8 hours and another $10,000 in the following nine days.
Since then, Paul has been traveling the U.S. performing at some of the nations most prestigious clubs, colleges, and music festivals. Averaging over 180 dates a year, he has appeared on stages with blues greats like Sonny Landreth, Tab Benoit, Bobby Parker, Maceo Parker, Anders Osbourne, and Devon Allman, as well as more contemporary groups like Vertical Horizon, Tonic, Stroke 9, and We Are Scientists.
