Fusion 2014 Instructors:

Tiana Zoumer:

Tiana Zoumer has been hooping for just 4.5 hoop-obsessed years. Her practice has been a passionate endeavor that has fueled her growth, leading her to develop a fluid and technical style within the space of hoop dance and spiritual expression. Inspired by the infinite possibilities born of this developing art form she has been an innovator from the start. Bringing a constantly unique style and powerful presence, she incorporates spoken word, improvisation, precision control and explosive speed within her hoop dance performances. In teaching, she is inspired by mutually created moments--sharing the power of learning in play is her greatest calling, gift and reward. Her dance has brought her to perform and share her technique with fellow hoopers and communities all over the world. She lives and practices in Oakland, California.

Kwame Corbett:

Kwame Corbett is a dance educator, choreographer, and director. Kwame was born and raised in New York City, where he received most of his performing arts training and experience. Kwame has trained at many prestigious performing arts institutions such as The Ailey School - The Official School of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (NY), Broadway Dance Center - BDC (NY), The Juilliard School (NY), The Edge School of the Arts - E.S.O.T.A (NY), DeVore Dance Center (NY), Dance Studio A (NY), and Uptown Dance Academy Inc. (NY). He has danced, performed and choreographed for companies such as the Humanities and the Arts Dance Ensemble, Divine Majestic Creations Dance Company (DMC Dance Co.), and the ZMK Dance Company. Kwame has also been a cast member of the Off-Broadway Non-Profit Organization cast of City at Peace New York - CAP, Inc. (Now known as The Possibility Project) Kwame has choreographed and directed multiple productions and showcases in addition to choreographing numerous artistic dance pieces which have been by various dance companies. In addition to performing as a Principal for Kaleidoscope Collective Performing Arts Company, Kwame is also the Artistic Director and Dean of RELLIK Dance Academy and RELLIK Dance Company.

Lainey Be:

Lainey learned to dance as soon as she learned to walk. She has studied with USA Ballet, Twin Cities Ballet, and Orchesis Intercity Dance Company, a student led organization in which she choreographed, taught, and preformed many original pieces. She is trained in Martha Graham, contemporary, and classical ballet techniques, but she is also well versed in free form movement and contact improvisation. After a four-year break from dance due to illness, she picked up the hoop 2 year ago and has been working ever since to create a new language of movement that aims to turn hoop dance into a studio art form. In the classroom, Lainey strives to bring joy and freedom to students through the melding of creative movement, eclectic styles, and technique. Currently, Lainey is a Soloist in RELLIK, Inc.'s premier division Kaleidoscope Collective Performing Arts Company and a teacher at RELLIK Dance Academy.
