Chris Mills House Concert
Roots Hoot House Concerts presents yet another very special evening of music this time with Windy City ex-compatriot (and co-hort to the likes of Neko Case, Kelly Hogan, Sally Timms, et al), the singer and songwriter Chris Mills. Residing in Brooklyn USA for the last bunch of years, Chris is poised to release his first solo album in 5 years. Titled "Alexandria", the album is out on January 21. Chris, with his band The Distant Stars in tow, embarks on an album release tour that takes him from St. Louis to Chicago to the UK. The tour includes a stop right here in Peace Dale, RI for what will be his 2nd Roots Hoot House Concerts appearance. It's difficult to categorize Chris's music. Indie rock, Chamber pop, folk, glam, go figure. To these ears, its unpredictability is its beauty. He delivers the majestic goods in the confines of our intimate living room listening room/party space on Saturday, February 8.

"Back when I was living in Chicago, it was a really special time for music: Neko Case was knocking us out with her inimitable pipes. Wilco was preparing to record the awe-inspiring Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. And Chris Mills could often be found singing his heart out as well, often on the same stage with these acts, the Mekons and Kentuckians My Morning Jacket.
In January Mills will release Alexandria, his first new album in five years, with backing band the Distant Stars. If the first single, Castaways is any indication, it's gonna be a great one.
Today I'm honored to debut the video for Castaways, a song that feels more heartfelt, and even cinematic, every time I hear it. I asked Mills to tell me a little about the song, and here's what he said. (And yep, like me, life took Mills from Chicago to New York several years ago. Funny how that happens.)"
