Join us in spending an evening discovering the world of the shy and secretive Asian elephant as we present BBC Natural World's "Sri Lanka: Elephant Island".
FILM SCREENING: 6:00pm-7:00pm LECTURE & SLIDESHOW: 7:15pm-7:45pm
ONLINE SALES HAVE ENDED EARLY. But we have about half the tickets left and you can still BUY THEM AT THE DOOR!
If buying or picking up tickets at the door, please ARRIVE 30 MINUTES EARLY.
We will accept cash, check or credit cards.
The film features Martyn Colbeck (film maker who shot scenes in "BBC Planet Earth" and the "Echo" series on the Amboseli elephants), and Dr. Shermin de Silva (director of the Uda Walawe Elephant Research Project in Sri Lanka).
It will be followed by a short lecture by Dr. de Silva herself about the elephants she studies, the conservation issues facing Asian elephants, and how you can help.
This fundraising event will benefit research and conservation efforts on behalf of wild Asian elephants and their habitats. The entire amount of your ticket will go to Trunks & Leaves Inc.* (http://trunksnleaves.org) and will be spent on science and education activities centered on this enigmatic species.
The museum closes at 5pm - if you have kids, you may want to come early to enjoy the main museum. The lobby of the museum, with exhibits on wild animals and earthquakes in the Bay Area will be open during our event.
Light refreshments will be provided. Please register in advance so we can have a headcount, thanks!
