Description
Springing from Seattles thriving Gypsy jazz scene, Hot Club Sandwich is one of the most vibrant emerging acoustic bands on the West Coast.  Hot Club Sandwich captures the spirit of hot jazz bands from the early 20th Century.  Featuring the instrumentation of guitars, upright bass, mandolin and violin, HCS draws inspiration from the
classic string swing ensembles and big bands of the 1930s and 1940s with particular reverence for the work of Django Reinhardt, Stephan Grappelli and the Quintet of the Hot Club of France.

Hot Club Sandwich brings lively humor to the stage and engages the audience with descriptive narratives.

What can you say about a legend?  A favorite guest on David Letterman, Baby Gramps is an amazing amalgamation of everything that anybodys ever heard including Mississippi John Hurt, Uncle Dave Macon, Charlie Patton, Blind Blake, Captain Beefheart, the Tuvan Throat Singers and Popeye.

Baby Gramps has created a highly developed and completely original musical concoction that is easily the most intriguing synthesis to come out of the roots revival of the late 20th Century.

An eccentric, seemingly very old (though nobody seems to knows how old) singer and steel-guitar player based in Seattle, Baby Gramps finger picks an old steel national guitar and sings in a wild, extemporaneous gravel vocal style with phenomenal vocal rhythmic improves and a guitar technique that borders on early ragtime.

He combines early jazz, blues, ragtime, and good-time novelty music.  Most important for Gramps is not his obvious musical genius, but the ability for having fun and making sure his audience does too!

NOTE: No one under 21 years old will be admitted.
