Jonathan Sunde has been performing nationally and internationally for the last nine years with The Daredevil Christopher Wright, a band formed in Eau Claire, WI. Over the course of the year he has been writing and recording his first solo album under the name J.E. Sunde. With a love for the craft of the singer/songwriter and an admiration for artists such as Nina Simone and Leonard Cohen, he has been trying to write honest songs that feel good and hopefully aren't excessively derivative. In this endeavor he has, at times, been more and less successful. If you are wondering whether to attend his show, curious as to what you can expect, think quiet singer/songwriter folk music with a lot of words that get vaguely to blatantly philosophical at times. Then, take a chance. You may not regret it.
We Are The Willows write simple songs that take musical hints from folk/pop singer/songwriters like Paul Simon and Bob Dylan that leave room for exaggerations and embellishments that may nod to contemporary indie bands like Sigur Ros, Grizzly Bear, and Sufjan Stevens. Currently, the band is preparing to release a collection of songs that are based on over 350 letters exchanged between Peter's Grandparents while his Grandfather was stationed in the South Pacific during World War II. The songs are be an attempt to understand and communicate one man's notions of love, life, death, and mundanity in a time of national and personal crisis.
