Asskicking Amazons

Conceived and Directed by Bob Fisher

Script devised in collaboration with the cast, crew, and Mammals Company members

What happens when culture war turns into a full scale arms race!?

Set 12 years in the future, after the leader of the all female punk band named Asskicking Amazons goes too far during a pirated performance art broadcast, she is forced into hiding being categorized as a home grown terrorist. The remaining band members fight over whether to risk keeping provocation/agitation propaganda at the forefront of their activism.

Asskicking Amazons is a speculative story about how politically driven artists/activists and their patrons/sympathizers increasingly are facing opposition and government sanctioned risks to their liberty.

Our story takes inspiration from current events like the trials of the Pussy Riot, the recent categorization of Insane Clown Posse Juggalos as a recognized gang, as well as historic moments in music history such as the CIA stalking of John Lennon, the trial of Jim Morrison, and the Federal goverement seizing of Dead Kennedy CDs for containing the pornographic work of H.R. Geiger in the jacket sleeve.

Starring Jack Birdwell, Liz Chase*, Sarah Koerner*, Sarah Kopp, A.J. Miller*, Erin Orr*, Emily Radke, Anthony Stamilio*, Justin Warren, Sasha Warren*, Anne Wilson

* Denotes Chicago Mammals Company Member/Artistic Associate
