Christmas Gifts From the Kitchen
Join chef Meridith Ford, former AJC dining critic and food writer, chef, teacher and consultant as she shows you how to make festive gifts from your kitchen to give this holiday season:
Pumpkin-cranberry bread mix in a jar: the perfect quick bread for the holidays! Layered into Mason jars, you simply add eggs and liquid ingredients, then bake. We'll create festive labels with complete instructions and tags for gifting.
Savory rice mixes: Uncooked rice is mixed with an array of savory spices for easy week-night cooking. Curried rice, Savannah red rice, lemon-herbed rice the variations are endless. The herbs and spices are mixed with dry rice and wrapped in pouches, then tied with decorative bows and a card for directions.
Dried fruit chutney: Cherries, apricots, raisins and nuts are macerated in bourbon, sugar and spices. The chutney is stored in decorative jars and used for desserts, to accompany game fowl (such as turkey or duck) or to be used as a fruit base for fruitcake.
Mulled wine: Spice pouches with dried spices and orange peel are tied to a bottle of wine along with a recipe card for directions.
We'll also enjoy our mulled wine, plus cheery holiday snacks and nibbles for even more ideas on how to entertain and gift this season! Don't miss out on the fun - this class is limited to 12 people, so sign up now!
