Ray Vega & Thomas Marriott: East West Trumpet Summit, featuring Roy McCurdy at the Bellevue Jazz & Blues Music Series
The Bellevue Jazz & Blues Music Series welcomes Ray Vega & Thomas Marriott: East West Trumpet Summit, featuring Roy McCurdy.

Formed in 2010 after decades of musical mentorship, friendship and collaboration, the East-West Trumpet Summit is led by two of the more dynamic and versatile trumpeters anywhere, Ray Vega & Thomas Marriott. Continuing the tradition of fabled trumpet duos that include Joe Oliver & Louis Armstrong, Fats Navarro & Howard McGhee, and Freddie Hubbard & Woody Shaw, the East-West Trumpet Summit is a celebration of fellowship and teamwork.

The duos rst album, East-West Trumpet Summit on Origin Records, hit #1 on the jazz airplay charts, was featured on NPRs Morning Edition and established the group through their festival and club appearances worldwide. Their second album Return of The East-West Trumpet Summit was released to wide critical acclaim in 2015 and is sure to excite the general jazz audience as much as fans of the trumpet.

A native of the South-Bronx, Ray Vega is a veteran of the New York Jazz and Salsa scenes. Hes toured, recorded and performed with some of the top names in music, including Tito Puente, Joe Henderson, Mongo Santamaria, Lionel Hampton, Paul Simon, The Duke Ellington Orchestra and Mel Torme among many others. Since 2008 he has been a guest lecturer at The University of Vermont.

Seattle born and bred, Thomas Marriott is one of the most active jazz musicians on the west coast. Hes produced 12 albums as a leader for Origin Records and toured with greats like Maynard Ferguson, Rosemary Clooney and Roy McCurdy, as well as contemporary jazz masters like Orrin Evans, Steve Wilson, Charlie Hunter, Eric Reed and Joe Locke. His versatility on the trumpet have put him on the road with bands across the musical spectrum, including Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Captain Black Big Band, Deltron 2020 and Ivan Nevilles Dumpstafunk.
